M7.6 in Papua New Guinea, tsunami threat lifted

Officials have lifted a tsunami alert following a magnitude 7.6 earthquake that occurred in Papua New Guinea.

The USGS says the quake occurred at 23:46 UTC on Saturday.

NOAA canceled a tsunami threat that was issued for the coasts of Papua New Guinea and Indonesia.
